Autism According to the Centers for Disease Control, there are at least 1.5 million children with autism in the U.S. affecting one in every 150 children and one out of 90 boys. Government health experts claim autism is an incurable disease and recommend use of anticonvulsant and psychotropic drugs to control behavior and a behavior modification therapy called "applied behavior analysis (ABA). They dismiss all other means of helping these children as "unproven". Meanwhile hundreds of thousands of parents of children with autism, along with a small but growing number MDs, have concluded that vaccines may be a contributing factor to this disease, and they have developed a protocol which includes detoxing mercury, cleaning up yeast infections, and putting children on casein, gluten and sugar free diets along with providing them with behavioral modification therapy. Thousands of children have been restored to health by these methods. Still others have been restored to health by less well known natural healing arts strategies. The great guiding force for developing many of these successful strategies was Dr. Bernard Rimland, a psychologist whose own son was diagnosed with autism in the 1950s. Dr. Rimland died in November of 2006 and was honored in the Oklahoma Legislature in April of 2007, with a citation for his leadership in finding ways to treat autism.
